How to create an assignment for a course lecture
In this article, you will learn how to build assignments within your courses, how students submit their work files, and how you can seamlessly review, grade, and provide personalized feedback as an instructor.
What you will need:
- A SystemeScale account
- A course built on the platform (How to create a course using SystemeScale)
1. Creating an assignment
To attach a new assignment module to a specific lecture, follow these steps inside your dashboard layout:
β’ Title: Enter a clear, descriptive name for the milestone task.
β’ Instructions: Use the rich text editor to write comprehensive completion guidelines, criteria, or upload rules for your students.
β’ Assignment requirement: Check this box if you want to make the assignment strictly mandatory to unlock sequential course modules.
β’ Assignment status: Toggle the master active switch to instantly publish or hide the task sheet.
Once configured, click Save.
A blue icon will display right next to the lecture name in your course dashboard index indicating an active published assignment layout. A grey icon indicates a deactivated draft state.
2. Deleting an assignment
3. Student submission process
When an active student logs in and encounters a lecture block containing a task sheet module, the stylized text instructions populate automatically at the base of the page area.
The student simply clicks the secure Click to upload or drag and drop zone card component to select their file from their storage. Once loaded, they hit Submit assignment, click Confirm, and the card transitions immediately into a stylized Pending state block waiting for your review pipeline.
β’ The hard platform architectural limit on asset uploads is capped at 10MB maximum sizing.
β’ All typical extensions and standard document formats are globally accepted by the system checker.
4. Reviewing submissions (Instructor view)
To centralize, read, download, and grade files across all curriculums inside your portfolio, navigate to your dashboard and select the central Assignments management tab located on the top navigation menu header bar.
This layout contains two main operational tools:
- Filter bar: Search, drill down, or sort records by user email strings, specific course tokens, execution dates, or status flags. By default, this engine sets the view parameter to Pending so you can instantly zero in on pending submissions. You can toggle to Approved or Rejected states or wipe filters to view the raw table.
- Assignments table: A structured layout showing file download blocks, user metrics (name, email), course titles, module/lecture contexts, and exact timestamp records.
The moment an assessment rule executes, the system transmits an automated email update and pushes a student workspace notification token directly to their client profile page view. Students can review status changes and instructor remarks directly below the lecture block layout.
