How to preview your course as a student
Previewing your course as a student lets you see exactly what your students experience — the course player, lecture pages, navigation, and content. Testing before enrolling paying students catches issues before they reach your audience.
How to preview your course
1
Manually add yourself as a student
Assets → Courses → your course → Add student. Enter your own name and a secondary email address (or a test address you can access). Select Full access → Save. A login email is sent to that address. See: How to manually add a student.
2
Open the student login email
Check the inbox of the email address you used. Open the login email from SystemeScale. It contains your course URL and login credentials.
3
Log in as the student
Open the course URL in a private or incognito browser window (to avoid being logged in as admin at the same time). Use the credentials from the email to log in.
4
Navigate through the course player
Check every module and lecture. Verify that:
- All activated lectures are visible and accessible.
- Inactive lectures do not appear.
- Videos play correctly.
- Downloadable files download correctly.
- The course navigation (next/previous lecture) works.
- The course completion shows the correct progress.
5
Test from a mobile device
Open the course player on a phone or tablet. Course players should be fully responsive. Check that videos display properly and navigation is usable on smaller screens.
💡
Always preview in an incognito window
Regular browser windows may keep you logged in as the admin, which can mask what students actually see. An incognito window ensures you're seeing the true student view with no admin privileges.
What to check before going live
- All lectures activated — inactive lectures are invisible to students.
- Video playback — test every video. Buffering issues are easier to fix before launch.
- Downloads work — click every download button and confirm the file downloads correctly.
- Module order is correct — verify the sequence makes sense as a learning journey.
- Drip delays are correct (if using drip content) — confirm the unlock schedule matches your plan. See: How to set up drip content.
- Course domain resolves correctly — the course URL should load without any domain errors.
ℹ️
Remove your test enrolment after previewing
After testing, go to the Students tab → find your test account → three-dot menu → Revoke access. This keeps your student list clean. See: How to revoke course access.
