How do you control access to subscription resources?
In this article, you will learn how to control when a customer should get access to a resource after purchasing a subscription.
Default access behavior
By default, a customer receives access to the resource immediately after purchasing a subscription offer, even if the payment has not yet been received.
Purpose of the access control setting
The main purpose of this feature is to allow the seller to choose when the customer will have access to the resource when purchasing a subscription.
You can decide to:
- Give access immediately after the order is created.
- Give access only after the first subscription payment has been received.
Example: first subscription payment fails
For example, a seller may notice that a customer was given access to a course even though the first subscription payment failed.
In this situation, SystemeScale will provide instant access to the resource specified in the payment page settings, whether the subscription payment succeeded or failed.
If the first payment fails, SystemeScale will make additional attempts to collect the payment in the following days.
The solution is to configure your payment settings so that customers receive access only after the first payment is successfully received.
Change access to start after the first payment
To avoid giving the customer access to the resource before receiving the first payment, change the subscription access setting from your payment settings.
Default versus delayed access
By default, this setting is set to Grant immediate access after creating an order.
To avoid giving customers access to the resource without receiving the first payment, select Give access only after receiving the first payment.
