How to integrate Apple Pay in SystemeScale via Stripe
In this article, we guide you step by step on how to set up Apple Pay on your SystemeScale account using the Stripe payment gateway integration.
What you need
- A SystemeScale account
- A Stripe account
- A custom domain
Step 1: Connect Stripe to SystemeScale
If you have not connected Stripe to your SystemeScale account yet, follow the steps outlined in the Stripe connection guide.
Step 2: Ensure that Apple Pay is enabled for your domains
Once your Stripe account is connected to SystemeScale, the domains associated with your account will be automatically added to Apple Pay and validated by the system.
Click Show connected domains to display the domains that are automatically configured with Apple Pay.
The list of available domains will automatically appear for purchases through Apple Pay.
Step 3: Add new domains for Apple Pay
If you want to add a new domain for Apple Pay after connecting Stripe, you can do so manually.
Accept Apple Pay payments
With these steps, you can accept Apple Pay payments via SystemeScale. All connected domains will be ready to process payments with Apple Pay, providing a smooth and convenient experience for your customers.
How Apple Pay autofill works on order forms
When a customer clicks to pay with Apple Pay, the available contact and delivery details from Apple Pay are automatically applied to your order form.
This can include the customerβs name, email, phone number, and address.
This auto-filled data takes priority and will overwrite any information the customer may have manually typed into the fields, ensuring a faster and error-free checkout experience.
Limits and restrictions when using Apple Pay
Despite its popularity, Apple Pay has certain limitations that are important to know before integrating or using it. Here are the main restrictions to keep in mind.
1. Limited compatibility with browsers
One of the main limitations of Apple Pay concerns web browsers. On Mac computers, Apple Pay only works with the Safari browser.
This means that if customers try to use Apple Pay via other browsers like Chrome, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge on a Mac, they will not be able to complete their transactions.
For an optimal experience with Apple Pay, users should ensure they are using Safari where required. You can also review Stripeβs supported Apple Pay browser guidance here: Stripe Apple Pay documentation.
2. Unsupported countries
Apple Pay is available in many countries, but some markets are still unsupported. For example, India and Thailand are not yet among the countries where Apple Pay is available, which can affect users or merchants in those regions.
It is recommended to regularly check Appleβs supported regions list to verify whether your country or your customersβ country is supported: Apple Pay supported countries and regions.
3. Device compatibility
Apple Pay is designed to work on specific Apple devices, such as iPhones, iPads, Apple Watch, and certain Mac models.
Customers should check that their device is compatible with Apple Pay before attempting to use it. Older Apple devices, or devices whose operating systems are not updated, may not be compatible with this feature.
4. Restrictions based on payment methods
Apple Pay works with credit and debit cards issued by partner banks in supported countries.
However, some banks or card issuers may not be compatible with Apple Pay, even in regions where the service is active.
