How to add a custom domain to your SystemeScale account

This article explains how to add a custom domain to your SystemeScale account and connect it through your DNS provider.

The process has three main parts: adding the domain in SystemeScale, adding the required DNS records at your host, and setting up root-domain redirection.

What you will need

• A SystemeScale account
• A domain name you own
• Access to your domain host or DNS provider

Step 1: Add the domain in SystemeScale

Click your Profile Picture in the top-right corner, then click Settings.

From the settings area, click Custom Domain, then click Add domain.

Step 1.2: Enter your domain name

In the popup that appears, enter your domain name starting with www.

Example: www.domain-name.com

Then click Save.

Step 1.3: Copy the CNAME records

Once the domain is added and saved, a new popup will display two CNAME records.

You must add these two CNAME records to your domain host’s DNS settings to connect your domain.

Step 2: Add the CNAME records at your web hosting platform

Log in to your hosting provider or domain registrar account and open the DNS zone for your domain.

Create two new CNAME records using the values displayed in the SystemeScale popup.

You can use the provider guides below if you use one of these registrars:

• GoDaddy
• OVH
• Cloudflare
• Infomaniak
• IONOS
• Namecheap

General DNS instructions

Once you are inside your DNS provider’s dashboard, follow the general steps below.

Example CNAME records

The examples below show the type of values SystemeScale may display. Do not copy these exact values unless they are the same values shown in your own account.

Check your DNS records

After adding the two CNAME records, you can check whether the DNS records are visible using a DNS lookup tool such as DNSChecker.

To check a record, enter the full CNAME name into the search bar, including your domain name.

The indicators should appear green. If they do not, the records may not have been entered correctly or may not have propagated yet.

DNS troubleshooting notes

• Some domain hosts, such as Hover.com, may not accept dots at the end of DNS record values. If your domain keeps losing its “Ready to use” status or you experience connection issues, contact your host to confirm whether this applies.
• Sometimes your host may not be able to save a CNAME because it conflicts with another DNS record.
• If there is a conflict, contact your hosting provider to identify the conflicting record and ask whether it is safe to remove it.
• If your DNS records are not green yet, wait for propagation and review the spelling of the record name and target value.

Step 3: Set up redirection

After adding the CNAME records, move on to redirecting your root domain.

This step depends on your hosting provider.

• If you use Hostinger, follow Step 3.1.
• If you use another DNS hosting provider, follow Step 3.2.

Step 3.1: Create an ALIAS record with root in Hostinger

If you use Hostinger, create an ALIAS record from the root domain to the same destination you used for the www CNAME record.

This allows the root version of your domain to point to the correct destination.

Step 3.2: Create a redirection with other DNS providers

If you use another DNS hosting provider, create a redirection from the root domain to the www version of your domain.

Important redirection notes

• It can take a few hours for the domain to be approved.
• It can take up to 24–48 hours for DNS records to fully propagate.
• Redirection usually works with HTTP or when you do not specify the protocol in the URL.
• Most domain registrars only support forwarding for HTTP addresses, not HTTPS.
• If you need HTTPS redirection, consider using a provider that supports CNAME flattening, such as Cloudflare, or root-level CNAMEs, such as Namecheap.

Final step: Define your domain homepage

Once you have completed the domain integration in SystemeScale, define a homepage for your domain.

This is important because your site needs a homepage so it can load correctly when a visitor lands directly on your domain.
