What is a two-step order form?

A two-step order form allows customers to submit their contact information before proceeding to the payment details step.

Using this method, their contact details are added to your email list even if they do not finalize their payment.

Great for list building
A two-step order form is a useful way to build your contact list because visitors who complete the first step can still be saved as contacts even if they do not complete the purchase.

How to add a two-step order form

If you want to use a two-step order form on your order form page, open your payment page in the editor.

Then drag the Two-step order form element onto your payment page.

1
Open your order form page
Go to the order form/payment page inside your sales funnel.
2
Open the page editor
Edit the payment page where you want the order form to appear.
3
Add the element
Drag the Two-step order form element onto the payment page.
πŸ“Œ
Contacts are captured after step one
Customers who do not complete their purchase will automatically be added to your contact list once they submit the first step.

Adding an automation rule to the first step

Because everyone who completes the first step of the form is automatically added to your contact list, you can trigger specific automation rules for them.

For example, you can assign a tag to people who started checkout but did not complete the purchase.

To set this up, navigate to the Order Form page, click Automation rules, then click Add rule.

Select Funnel step form subscribed from the trigger list, then choose the action you want to run.

1
Open the Order Form page
Go to the order form page where the two-step order form is located.
2
Open Automation rules
Click Automation rules, then click Add rule.
3
Choose the trigger
Select Funnel step form subscribed from the trigger list.
4
Choose your action
Select the action you want to run, such as assigning a tag.

Example automation use case

You can use the first step of the two-step order form to segment checkout starters.

For example, you can add a tag such as Started checkout when someone submits the first step. This lets you follow up with contacts who showed buying intent but did not complete payment.

Practical follow-up idea
You can use this trigger to add a tag, subscribe the contact to a campaign, or send a reminder email based on your sales process.
