βœ… Tagging contacts

In this article, you will learn how to automatically and manually add tags to your contacts in SystemeScale.

Tags help you organize contacts, segment your audience, trigger automations, identify buyers or students, and track how different groups of contacts behave inside your account.

What you need before you start

  • A SystemeScale account
  • A tag

1. Adding tags automatically

To add tags automatically, create automation rules that assign tags when a specific trigger occurs.

For example, you can automatically add a tag when someone subscribes through a form, purchases an offer, clicks a link, joins a campaign, or completes another tracked action.

1
Create an automation rule
Go to Automations β†’ Rules, then create a new rule.
2
Choose the trigger
Select the event that should cause the tag to be added.
3
Add the tag action
Choose the action that adds a tag to the contact.
4
Select or create the tag
Select an existing tag, or type a new tag name so it can be created and used inside the automation.
5
Save the rule
Save the automation rule so the tag can be applied automatically when the trigger occurs.

Adding tags through payment-page resources

Tags can also be added through the Resources section of your order form or payment page.

This is useful when you want buyers to receive a tag immediately after purchasing a product, course, subscription, or membership offer.

Click Contacts in the CRM menu.
2
Select contact(s)
Select the contact or contacts you want to assign the tag to.
3
Open More actions
Click More actions.
4
Choose Add tag
From the action list, choose Add tag.
5
Select the tag
In the popup, choose the tag you want to assign.
6
Apply the tag
Click Add tag to contacts.

When to use automatic tagging

Use automatic tagging when the tag should be applied repeatedly based on a contact’s action or status.

  • When a contact submits a form
  • When a contact purchases a product
  • When a contact is added to a campaign
  • When a student gains access to a course
  • When a customer buys a subscription or membership

Automation saves time
Use automatic tagging for repeated actions so contacts are segmented immediately without manual work.

When to use manual tagging

Use manual tagging when you need to update a specific contact or a small selected group.

  • After importing contacts
  • After confirming a manual payment
  • When correcting a contact segment
  • When marking VIP customers or special cases
  • When handling one-off customer support or CRM updates

Best practices

  • Create clear tag names before using them in rules or payment resources.
  • Use consistent naming patterns, such as Buyer-Course-1, Lead-Webinar, or Status-VIP.
  • Use automatic tagging for repeated customer actions.
  • Use manual tagging for corrections, one-off updates, and small groups.
  • Review your tag list regularly to avoid duplicate or confusing tags.
